Zelensky Appoints Umerov as Head of Ukrainian Delegation on Peace Settlement

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, as the head of the Ukrainian delegation on issues of peace settlement.

According to the decree published on the President of Ukraine’s website, Umerov will lead the Ukrainian delegation in negotiations with the United States, other international partners, and representatives of Russia. The discussions are planned to focus on the terms of a “fair and sustainable” peace.

On November 28, reports emerged that Zelensky had dismissed Andriy Yermak from his position as Head of the Presidential Office. Following this, Yermak announced his intention to go to the front and defend his homeland.

Earlier, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine conducted a search in Yermak’s office. Yermak may be connected to the “Energoatom” scandal and the case involving businessman Timur Mindich. He is suspected of attempting to exert pressure on the anti-corruption agency during the ongoing investigation.
