The United States and Iran Sign Peace Agreement

U.S. President Donald Trump signed a memorandum of understanding with Iran. Trump signed the document in Versailles during a dinner held as part of the Group of Seven summit. French President Emmanuel Macron announced the news on X.

Macron also attached a video to his post. In the footage, Trump can be heard saying during the signing, “That was quite difficult.”

Iranian authorities also stated that the peace document was signed by the country's president, Masoud Pezeshkian. As a result, the agreement has entered into force.

The memorandum is the first document signed by the United States and Iran since 1979.

“Everything we sought to achieve through military action, we obtained many times over through negotiations. There is simply no comparison,” said Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

For his part, Trump stated after the G7 summit that if Iran violates the agreement, the United States would “bomb them to hell.”

Earlier, the signing of the peace agreement between the United States and Iran had been scheduled for June 19 in Geneva. It has now been announced that U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf will nevertheless meet in Geneva.
