At least 98 people died on April 8 as a result of the roof collapse at a nightclub in the Dominican Republic. According to the head of the rescue service, Juan Manuel Méndez, more than 150 others were injured, and the death toll may rise. Around 400 rescuers are searching for those missing in the rubble.

According to local media, the roof of the popular Jet Set club in the capital city of Santo Domingo suddenly collapsed during a performance by famous merengue singer Rubby Pérez. The 69-year-old artist was also among the victims of the tragedy, reported the local newspaper Listín Diario.
