Baku accuses Iran of a drone attack in the Nakhchivan exclave

Iranian drones struck the airport in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan exclave. Iran’s ambassador to Baku, Mojtaba Demirchilu, was summoned to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs in connection with the strike on the Nakhchivan exclave, the Azerbaijani ministry said in a statement released on Thursday, March 5.

Earlier, the Azerbaijani news agency APA and the local publication Minval reported on Iran’s strike on the Nakhchivan airport. According to Minval, the drones involved were Shahed-136. Reuters, citing a source, reported that the airport was attacked by both drones and missiles.

Nakhchivan International Airport is located approximately 10 km from the border with Iran.
