At least 4 people died in a fire in Hong Kong

At least four people have died in Hong Kong after a fire engulfed several high-rise buildings, Reuters reports.

The Wang Fuk Court residential complex contains around 2,000 apartments. Local authorities report that three injured people were taken to the hospital, and their condition is critical. Several firefighters were also injured.

Wang Fuk Court is a high-rise residential complex in Hong Kong. It is located near the border with China, and the population of the district is approximately 300,000 people.

Experts note that in Hong Kong, wood—particularly bamboo—is still used in the construction of high-rise buildings, which increases the risk of rapid fire spread. The government plans to stop using bamboo in the construction of new buildings, but implementing such changes in existing structures is quite difficult.
