U.S. Congressman from the Republican Party Thomas Massie has introduced a bill proposing the withdrawal of the United States from NATO. Massie wrote about this on X.

The congressman called NATO a “Cold War relic” and stated that the United States should direct its money toward its own defense rather than spending it on supporting “socialist countries.” In bill HR 6508, he demands that the President issue an official statement regarding the U.S. withdrawal from NATO.

The document states that NATO’s original goals no longer align with the national interests of the United States. The congressman claims that the alliance’s European partners have sufficient economic and military capacity to ensure their own security independently.

The bill prepared by the congressman also stipulates that American taxpayers’ money should not be used to fund joint budgetary organizations.
