With the Support of the National Wine Agency, American Media Platform SOMM TV Produces Film About Georgian Wine
The feature-length documentary *Echoes of Wine* premiered on SOMM TV on July 1. The film introduces viewers to Georgia's unique natural landscapes, vineyards, centuries-old winemaking culture, and the efforts of a new generation of winemakers. Special attention is given to the ancient qvevri winemaking method and the remarkable diversity of Georgian grape varieties. The information was released by the National Wine Agency. Presenting Georgia as one of the world's oldest winemaking nations through SOMM TV's popular programming is expected to significantly increase awareness of Georgian wine and boost its sales in the strategically important U.S. market. The film's release was preceded by a promotional article titled *A Country That Constantly Calls You: Echoes of Wine*, published on SOMM TV's official website.
"Georgia is a country with a unique and profound connection to wine. Wine has been produced here continuously for more than 8,000 years, and there is no aspect of life that has not been shaped by this culture. Surrounded by mountains and located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, this remarkable country has become the true cradle of wine. After 8,000 years of history and several decades of Soviet rule, which threatened traditional winemaking methods, Georgian winemaking is experiencing a true renaissance," the article states.
At the initiative and with the financial support of the National Wine Agency, the SOMM TV film crew visited Georgia in May this year. The platform's representatives attended the National Wine Day celebrations held on May 8 and visited wineries in the Kakheti and Kartli regions, where they became acquainted with Georgia's centuries-old winemaking traditions and its modern wine culture. SOMM TV is an international digital media platform dedicated entirely to wine, gastronomy, travel, and lifestyle. It was founded by American sommeliers and wine industry professionals.
