The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, sent a letter of condolence to the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, in connection with the death of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II.

The President of Turkey expresses his condolences to the Prime Minister of Georgia, the Orthodox Church, and the Georgian people.

“Dear Mr. Prime Minister, with deep sorrow I learned that on the night of March 17, His Holiness, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II, passed away. On behalf of the Turkish people and on my own behalf, I extend my sincere condolences to the family of the deceased, Your Excellency, the Orthodox Church, and the Georgian people,” noted Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
