President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili, together with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Speaker of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili, and Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, visited the Veterans’ Culture and Recreation Park (Kikvidze Park), where they congratulated World War II veterans on Victory Day over fascism.

The President laid flowers at the monument to Meliton Kantaria located in Kikvidze Park and honored the memory of those who died in the war against fascism.

"May 9 is the day when humanity, through its victory over fascism, wrote a new chapter in history! Georgians made a significant contribution to the creation of this history.

I express deep respect to our heroic veterans and bow my head in memory of our fallen compatriots who gave their lives for freedom and peace," said Mikheil Kavelashvili.

Eighty years have passed since the victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.
