The Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, will be laid to rest at the Sioni Cathedral. This decision was made at a session of the Holy Synod.

“The Patriarch’s funeral ceremony will take place on March 22, and, in accordance with his wishes, he will be buried at Sioni,” Bishop Iob told journalists.

For reference, on March 17, the Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia, Ilia II, passed away at the age of 93.
