The Ecumenical Patriarch, His All-Holiness Bartholomew, will attend the funeral of Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia. The information was confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia to Georgia’s First Channel.

The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew held a memorial service for the soul of Patriarch Ilia II at the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. George. In a letter addressed to the Holy Synod of the Georgian Church, the Ecumenical Patriarch expressed his condolences over the passing of the head of the Georgian Church, Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II.

The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II, will be buried on Sunday, March 22, at the Sioni Cathedral in Tbilisi.

The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II, passed away on March 17 at the age of 93.
