Two Georgian citizens who were illegally detained in the occupied territory near the village of Dvani in the Kareli Municipality have been released. They are currently in territory controlled by the central authorities. This was reported by the State Security Service of Georgia.

According to the statement, all relevant instruments available to the central authorities were actively used during the process of releasing the illegally detained Georgian citizens.

“Taking into account the interests of the detainees, we deliberately refrained from disclosing their names, surnames, and other details so as not to hinder the process.

Established practice also shows that in such cases achieving the desired result is significantly easier.

The central authorities of Georgia and the State Security Service continue active efforts to secure the release of all Georgian citizens being held in illegal detention in the occupied territories,” the statement said.
