Liza Yasko Files Lawsuit Against Mikheil Saakashvili Seeking Child Support and Termination of Parental Rights

Ukrainian media report that Liza Yasko, a member of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada, is engaged in legal proceedings against former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, with whom she has a daughter, Jasmine.

According to media reports, the proceedings have been ongoing since April 2026. Yasko is seeking child support payments from Saakashvili and the termination of his parental rights.

In 2021–2022, Yasko listed Saakashvili in her asset declarations as a person with whom she lived, although they were not officially married. Starting in 2023, Saakashvili’s name disappeared from Yasko’s declarations, while the entry concerning their daughter, Jasmine Mikhailovna, remained.

According to Yasko’s lawyer, Dmytro Buzanov, both parents are obligated to participate in raising their child until the age of 18. This obligation does not depend on whether the parents are legally married.

The lawyer noted that even if the court terminates Saakashvili’s parental rights, this would not exempt him from paying child support. Accordingly, the main issue to be considered by the court will be the amount of child support.
