Irakli Kobakhidze: Georgia’s strategic location makes our country a natural gateway between East and West and a reliable transit route

Georgia’s strategic geographic position at the crossroads of Europe and Asia has long made our country a natural gateway between East and West. It serves as a reliable transit route ensuring the timely and efficient movement of goods, services, energy, and digital data, said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during his address at the Georgia – Nexus For Investment panel, held within the framework of the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum.

According to the head of government, this event is an important platform for discussing a forward-looking investment policy and sustainable growth — aimed at responding to changing global realities and strengthening investor confidence.

“Georgia’s strategic geographic position at the crossroads of Europe and Asia has long made our country a natural gateway between East and West. It is a reliable transit route that ensures the timely and efficient movement of goods, services, energy, and digital data.

Guided by a vision to develop Georgia into a multifunctional and diversified hub, we are actively deepening regional and global integration — expanding trade, attracting investments, and increasing capital inflows.

Our strategic infrastructure initiatives form the cornerstone of this vision. Major projects — including the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, the East–West Highway, the Black Sea Submarine Cable, the new Tbilisi International Airport project, and the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway — strengthen Georgia’s role as a reliable center of regional connectivity and sustainable growth.

These initiatives enable the country to fully realize its transit potential, significantly contributing to the development of the new Silk Road — the Middle Corridor — recognized as one of the most efficient transport routes connecting East and West,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
