Georgia’s Ministry of Finance Investigation Service Detains One Person for Abuse of Official Powers
Officers of the Investigation Service of Georgia’s Ministry of Finance have detained a chief inspector of the Shida Kartli Regional Division of the National Food Agency (LEPL) on charges of abuse of official authority.
According to the Investigation Service, the inquiry established that the public official, in exchange for material benefit, provided the head of LLC “Farmers’ House” with information obtained in the course of official duties about an upcoming inspection several days in advance.
“The purpose of these actions was to help the company avoid a possible fine. It was also established that the said entrepreneur in the city of Gori was selling counterfeit agrochemicals under the name LUNA SENSATION, falsely presented as a product of the company BAYER.
The investigation is being conducted under Part One of Article 332 of Georgia’s Criminal Code.
We once again urge public officials and those seeking to enter into criminal collusion with them to refrain from such illegal actions. The Investigation Service will respond promptly and strictly in all cases,” the statement said.
