Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili Meets with UK Ambassador Gareth Ward

Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili held a meeting with the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Georgia, Gareth Ward. The information was released by Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"The parties discussed the dynamics of bilateral relations between the two countries. In this context, the Foreign Minister emphasized that recent statements and actions by representatives of the UK’s executive and legislative branches—including the imposition of sanctions on Georgian citizens—cast a shadow over the strategic partnership and friendship between Georgia and the United Kingdom and are often aimed at influencing Georgia’s internal political processes.

The discussion also touched on Georgia's legislative initiatives concerning foreign funding. The ambassador was informed that the development of relevant regulatory acts is in its final stage, and all necessary information will be promptly shared with interested parties.

While discussing ongoing developments in Georgia, the minister stressed that legal processes must not be politicized and that such attempts represent undue pressure on the justice system.

The conversation also addressed the existing security challenges in the region. In this context, the importance of the proper functioning of state institutions to ensure the country's stability and security was underlined," the Foreign Ministry's statement reads.
