"Georgian Dream": Bidzina Ivanishvili filled out his asset declaration on October 4, 2024 — the period between assuming and terminating office does not exceed two months. 'Transparency International' is once again trying to spread falsehoods.

“Bidzina Ivanishvili filled out his asset declaration on October 4, 2024 — the period between assuming and terminating office does not exceed two months“.  This was stated by „Georgian Dream“.

“We would like to respond to another piece of disinformation spread by "Transparency International Georgia", according to which the obligation to fill out an asset declaration for the Honorary Chairman of the "Georgian Dream" Bidzina Ivanishvili arose after the 2024 parliamentary elections due to his brief tenure as an MP, and despite this, his declaration cannot be found on the declarations website.

In order to inform the public, we would like to clarify that Bidzina Ivanishvili filled out the asset declaration, which he was required to fill out as a candidate for parliament in the 2024 parliamentary elections, on October 4, 2024. Radio Liberty also requested the declaration filled out by Bidzina Ivanishvili as a candidate for parliament from the Anti-Corruption Bureau and devoted an article to this topic on October 31, 2024, under the title "The Ivanishvili Family's Declared Property: in Georgia, Russia, and France".

Regarding "Transparency International Georgia’s" assertion that the obligation to complete an asset declaration arose due to Bidzina Ivanishvili’s “short-term tenure as a member of parliament following the elections,” we would like to remind the organization that, in accordance with the Law of Georgia on "Combating Corruption", “a person is obliged to submit a declaration of the official’s asset status to the Civil Service Bureau within two months from the date of appointment to the position.” Also, in accordance with the Law of Georgia on Combating Corruption, a person is exempt from the obligation to submit a declaration if he or she is assigned to perform the duties of an official in a state institution for a period of no more than 2 months.

According to the same law, “A candidate for membership of the Parliament of Georgia shall within 1 week from the date of registration as a candidate for membership of the Parliament fill out and submit a declaration of the property status of an official in a simplified form established by the Government of Georgia, unless in accordance with this article, he or she has already filled out a declaration in that year.”

Based on the above-mentioned reservations in the law, it is clear that the non-governmental organization "Transparency International - Georgia" is spreading lies. The 11th convocation of the Parliament, at its first session held on November 25, 2024, recognized the authority of deputies, including the first number of the "Georgian Dream" list, Bidzina Ivanishvili, which was terminated on December 10 of the same year based on his own appeal. Accordingly, upon Bidzina Ivanishvili's assumption of office, the period of termination of his powers does not exceed 2 months.

Accordingly, "Transparency International Georgia" once again continues to mislead the public with speculative statements and spreads lies" - says the statement by „Georgian Dream“.
