Enguri HPP says no damage from mudslide, reported by some media outlets
“Several media outlets and websites have circulated false information claiming that a mudslide damaged the Enguri HPP. This is entirely untrue,” the Enguri HPP said in a statement.
“Due to widespread public interest, we wish to clarify that on September 22, heavy rainfall and a mudslide in Samegrelo and Abkhazia caused some damage to infrastructure in the surrounding area of the Enguri HPP. However, this infrastructure damage has no impact on electricity generation, the operation of the facility, or its overall reliability.
We emphasise that the Enguri HPP continues to operate correctly and reliably. The enterprise remains connected to the national grid, and electricity generation is proceeding smoothly.
We urge media outlets to refrain from disseminating false and unverified information, which can mislead the public,” the statement concludes.
