Shalva Papuashvili on Peter Fischer: It is regrettable that he compared a foreign ambassador to a guest who breaks into a home and incites violence and propaganda

“It is regrettable that he compared a foreign ambassador to a guest who breaks into a home and incites violence and propaganda,” Chairman of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili told journalists regarding Germany’s ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer.

Journalists asked him to assess Peter Fischer’s interview in which the ambassador said that it is unpleasant for him to hear unfair criticism from representatives of the Georgian authorities.

“Mr. Peter will remain in the perception of the Georgian people as the German ambassador who posed against the backdrop of a fascist slogan and called the people who attacked a female MP together with her underage child under fascist slogans ‘the future of Georgia.’ The saddest thing is that this person destroyed 30 years of Georgian-German friendship in just three years and reduced it to the point where today Germany’s representative in Georgia is associated with encouraging, inciting, and supporting violence, disinformation, and propaganda.

In his characteristic sarcastic manner, he spoke about the ‘deep state’ — saying, ‘Where is it? It wasn’t in the room, I went to the bathroom and didn’t find it there either.’ He is essentially mocking Georgians. At the same time, he is mocking Americans, President Trump, and former British Prime Minister Liz Truss, who also spoke about the ‘deep state’ in Britain. It is very unfortunate to see such an arrogant attitude from a German person toward other nations. It turns out that he alone claims to possess the absolute truth. It is regrettable that he compared a foreign ambassador to a guest who breaks into a home and incites violence and propaganda,” Papuashvili noted.

Germany’s ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, stated that Germany was, is, and will remain a friend of Georgia, although it is indeed unpleasant when the president, prime minister, parliament speaker, or other MPs constantly call him a liar and accuse him of supporting violence.
