President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili Meets in Tbilisi with President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan
A meeting between the President of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturyan, and the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, took place at the Presidential Palace of Georgia.
During the meeting, the sides discussed current political developments as well as “the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region amid the rapidly changing international order,” the Georgian Presidential Administration reported.
Mikheil Kavelashvili thanked Vahagn Khachaturyan for supporting Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, and noted that Georgia welcomes the initialing of the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“Georgia also firmly supports the establishment of peace and stability in the South Caucasus and remains ready to continue contributing as needed. The meeting was held at the Presidential Palace,” Kavelashvili stated.
A joint press conference followed the meeting.
“The centuries-old relations between our two countries, based on mutual respect, trust, and unwavering friendship, have never been defined solely by geographic proximity. What matters most in this process is the alignment of values and shared views that unite our peoples — the principles of state sovereignty, national identity, and cultural diversity. Protecting our identity is a key priority for both Georgia and Armenia, which provides a solid foundation for even closer partnership,” said Mikheil Kavelashvili.
A few days earlier, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan paid an official visit to Georgia, during which he discussed connectivity issues with representatives of the Georgian government.
