Mikheil Kavelashvili: Georgia's Euro-Integration Continues

The President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, spoke at the annual ambassadorial meeting of the heads of Georgian diplomatic missions and stated that the country's priority is Euro-integration:

"Dear diplomats, you know that Georgia strives to become a full member of the European Union. This is our people's civilizational choice, enshrined in our Constitution, and it remains as firm as ever. Unfortunately, in recent times, the issue of Euro-integration and the pro-Western course guaranteed by our Constitution are often used for speculation in both domestic and foreign politics. We have repeatedly encountered such speculations and know that, unfortunately, all this serves to polarize our society and severely harms our country's interests. Therefore, our duty is to counter such speculations with the truth."

Kavelashvili said that Georgia's Euro-integration process continues "despite the artificially created noise in the country and a powerful disinformation campaign."

"By 2028, we will have fulfilled more than 90% of the Association Agreement, and by 2030, we will be best prepared for EU accession. However, it should be noted that Georgia is already ready to start negotiations at any moment. The Prime Minister has repeatedly stated this. At any moment, our country is ready to begin negotiations and start the process," he added.

Kavelashvili asserted that the priority in relations with the United States remains "equally unchanged and firm."

"We expect that under the new administration, all misunderstandings will be resolved, and the priorities defined by the Strategic Partnership Charter between the two countries will be properly reflected in all areas of our cooperation. Georgia, as a party interested in ensuring peace and stability, is strengthening closer relations with neighboring countries, namely Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkey, supporting long-term peace in the South Caucasus. As you know, we are making significant efforts in this direction," said the President of Georgia.
