Employees of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia conducted special immigration control operations across the country. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia reports.

“As a result of comprehensive measures, 59 foreign nationals illegally staying in the country were detained, including citizens of Kenya, Türkiye, Russia, India, Egypt, Ghana, Ethiopia, Uzbekistan, the Philippines, Sudan, Cameroon, China, and Azerbaijan.

As part of the special immigration control measures, department officers inspected specific locations and facilities of various types in order to identify foreign nationals staying in Georgia without legal grounds. It was established that the detained individuals were staying in the country in violation of the requirements established by the Law of Georgia on the Legal Status of Aliens and Stateless Persons.

The detainees are currently being held at the Migration Department’s Temporary Accommodation Center. Relevant procedures are underway for their removal from the country.

It should be noted that since the legislative amendments came into force, employees of the Migration Department have conducted 160 special immigration control operations. As a result, a total of 18,000 foreign nationals were checked, while 1,000 illegal migrants identified during these operations have already been removed from Georgia,” the statement said.
