Irakli Kobakhidze: We value the EU’s support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and if this support takes concrete forms, it will be even more welcome

“We generally value the European Union’s support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and if this support is expressed in concrete ways, it will be even more welcome,” Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.

The head of the Georgian government was responding to a question regarding a document initiated by Kaja Kallas.

“I will not get into personal matters; I am speaking about the European Union as a whole. When the EU supports Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, we can only welcome it. Where there are grounds to criticize a specific European official, we do so, and where, on the contrary, we can say thank you, we express our gratitude. This is precisely a case when we can show appreciation to European politicians. There are other cases where they demonstrate a very harsh and incorrect attitude toward the Georgian people, and of course we do not refrain from criticism there either. Where they deserve gratitude, we will say thank you; where they deserve criticism, we will voice criticism,” Kobakhidze said.
