Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

According to the Administration of the Government of Georgia, the meeting highlighted the long-standing and fruitful cooperation between Georgia and the United Nations.

The sides discussed the challenges facing international peace and security, as well as the particular importance of multilateral partnership in ensuring long-term stability and prosperity.

As noted during the meeting, the fact that peace, security, and sustainable development are the main topics of the general debate of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly underscores the particular relevance of these issues.

The meeting also focused on the difficult humanitarian situation and security challenges in Georgia’s occupied territories. The Prime Minister of Georgia thanked the UN Secretary-General for his support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and highlighted the importance of the resolution adopted by the General Assembly — “On the Status of Internally Displaced Persons and Refugees from Abkhazia, Georgia, and the Tskhinvali Region/South Ossetia, Georgia.”

Irakli Kobakhidze left a commemorative entry in the UN Guest Book of Honour.
