Georgia has prepared a lawsuit against the BBC – Speaker of the Georgian Parliament
The Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, stated that a complaint against the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has already been prepared.
“The complaint has been prepared, we still have time to submit it, and it will definitely be filed,” said the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili.
According to him, the procedure предусматривает that the complaint must first be submitted to the BBC’s internal regulatory body.
“Accordingly, in the coming days we will submit our complaint to the BBC’s internal regulatory authority. We hope that already at this level the BBC will acknowledge that the report in question was a fabrication and manipulation. If this does not happen, we will turn to other bodies. What we are demanding is simple: the report was manipulative, and therefore we demand recognition of this manipulation. You will learn the specific demands later.
At this stage, I do not intend to speak in advance about the content of the complaint. When it is made public, everything will become known. There are appropriate procedures. The first is the BBC’s internal regulatory mechanism, which must be used. If they refuse to admit their own fault, we will see what standards they will follow in this case. Then there are further instruments: the regulatory commission and the courts, including the European Court of Human Rights. We will follow all these procedures in the sequence required,” Papuashvili said.
