The de facto leader of Tskhinvali, Alan Gagloev, congratulated Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on assuming the office of President of the country. This was reported by the "Res" agency.

"I congratulate you on assuming the office of President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Please accept my congratulations on behalf of the people of South Ossetia and from me personally," the congratulatory letter states.

Gagloev noted that the recent elections in Venezuela once again confirmed that "a large part of society supports Maduro" and "values his contributions to the republic and his people."
