Economy Minister meets with Chinese Ambassador Zhou Qian
The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, convened with Zhou Qian, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Georgia.
According to the Ministry, the discussion highlighted the positive development of the strategic partnership between Georgia and China, particularly in trade and economic cooperation.
“The meeting centred on Georgia’s participation in the 8th China International Import Expo, scheduled to take place in Shanghai from November 5 to 10. It was emphasised that the Shanghai Expo presents a valuable opportunity for Georgian exporters to expand their presence in the Chinese market. Participants noted that Georgia has been participating in the Shanghai Expo since 2018, with over 120 local exporters benefiting from this platform. It was also announced that more than 40 leading Georgian companies will be represented across three pavilions at this year’s event,” the ministry informed.
Furthermore, it was recognised that both the Shanghai Expo and other bilateral economic initiatives will play a significant role in strengthening strategic economic ties with China.
The discussion also covered bilateral cooperation in civil aviation and tourism. It was noted that the introduction of a visa-free regime and the expansion of flight routes between Georgia and China are key measures to deepen economic and people-to-people connections.
“The importance of establishing new routes and increasing flight frequencies was underscored as vital to enhancing bilateral economic relations,” the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia added in a statement.
