Aliyev Calls Kobakhidze's Visit to Baku a Confirmation of the Highest Level of Relations
The visit of Irakli Kobakhidze to Azerbaijan has become "a symbol that the two states enjoy the highest level of relations," said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during a meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia. Ilham Aliyev also congratulated Kobakhidze once again on the victory of the "Georgian Dream" party in the parliamentary elections.
"You planned your first foreign visit to Azerbaijan after the parliamentary elections. Naturally, this is a symbol that Azerbaijan and Georgia have the highest level of relations. I want to express my deep gratitude to you for this decision. Once again, welcome to our country. I am pleased that our meetings have now become regular. I met with you in Baku a couple of months ago and would like to thank you for participating in the forum in Baku," Aliyev said at a press conference.
During his speech, the President of Azerbaijan noted that the success of the "Georgian Dream" would serve as a foundation for stability in the South Caucasus. He also mentioned that one of the main topics discussed during the meeting with Irakli Kobakhidze was the "Middle Corridor" project.
"Our countries closely cooperate and are partners. Our interaction is regular, and the respective agencies work in these areas in a coordinated manner. I am confident that this project will be successful. Naturally, within this project, we must maintain close ties with other neighboring countries, which covers a broad geography. Azerbaijan and Georgia will act as a link and a bridge connecting Europe and Asia... We are reliable partners and can offer valuable services to other countries as well," said the President of Azerbaijan.
In turn, Irakli Kobakhidze emphasized the importance of respecting the interests of states:
"It is very important for us to respect each other's strategic national interests, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. In this regard, I would like to extend special thanks to the Azerbaijani side and personally to President Ilham Aliyev for their firm and unwavering stance of support."
It should be noted that Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze arrived in Azerbaijan on January 17 for an official visit. This is Kobakhidze's first foreign visit since his reappointment as Prime Minister on November 28, 2024.
