Three foreign nationals wanted by Interpol under a Red Notice detained in Adjara
Officers of the Adjara Police Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operational and investigative measures, detained three citizens of the Republic of Turkey — M.T., born in 1998; O.U., born in 1993; and I.K., born in 1975 — who were wanted by Interpol under a Red Notice. The information was released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
According to the ministry, Turkish law enforcement authorities had placed M.T. on the international wanted list on charges of premeditated murder, O.U. on charges of robbery and unlawful deprivation of liberty, and I.K. on charges of commercializing, selling, or distributing narcotic or psychotropic substances.
“The detainees crossed the Georgian border before the Interpol Red Notices were issued for them.
As a result of investigative actions, all three were detained in Batumi at different times.
At present, extradition procedures prescribed by law are underway in relation to the detainees,” the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs stated.
