Samegrelo police seized a large quantity of illegal firearms and ammunition — 3 people detained
Officers of the Samegrelo–Zemo Svaneti Police Department — from the Zugdidi, Mestia, and Chkhorotsku district divisions — detained three individuals accused of the illegal acquisition, possession, and carrying of firearms and ammunition: G.M., born in 1992; G.D., born in 1971; and A.Z., born in 1947. The information was released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
According to the ministry, these crimes are punishable by up to 7 years of imprisonment.
“As a result of searches conducted at the detainees’ residences, auxiliary buildings, and vehicles, law enforcement officers seized various types of firearms and ammunition as evidence, including: 2 automatic weapons, 7 magazines, 164 cartridges, a revolver, a pistol, a single-barrel rifle, detonator caps, and the explosive substance TNT.
The investigation is underway under parts 3 and 4 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia,” the statement reads.
