Samegrelo Police Seize a Particularly Large Batch of Drugs — Ukrainian Citizen Detained

Employees of the Senaki District Division of the Samegrelo–Zemo Svaneti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia have detained a citizen of Ukraine, born in 1983 and identified by the initials O.S., on charges of illegal acquisition and possession of narcotic substances, as well as facilitating their illegal distribution, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.

“During the search of the suspect’s personal belongings, vehicle, and residence, law enforcement officers seized as evidence a particularly large quantity — 50 packages of a narcotic substance, including granules and powdered material containing methadone, prepared for further distribution.

As a result of investigative actions, police also seized money allegedly obtained from the sale of narcotic substances.

The investigation is underway under Articles 260 and 260¹ of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provide for imprisonment for up to 20 years or life imprisonment,” the ministry’s statement reads.
