Migration Department Officers Detain 32 Foreign Nationals in Tbilisi and Batumi During Special Immigration Checks
As part of the fight against illegal migration, officers of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia conducted special immigration checks in Tbilisi and Batumi. As a result of these comprehensive operations, 32 foreign nationals were detained, including citizens of India, Bangladesh, Thailand, China, Turkey, Palestine, Nigeria, Uzbekistan, and Egypt, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia reported.
According to the ministry, during the operations, department officers inspected specific locations to identify foreign nationals staying in Georgia without legal grounds. It was determined that the detainees had violated the requirements of Georgia’s law “On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons.”
The detainees are currently being held at the Migration Department’s Temporary Detention Center. Appropriate procedures are underway for their deportation from the country.
The Migration Department conducts special immigration checks on an intensive basis to ensure the timely detection and deportation of foreign nationals residing in Georgia without legal authorization.
