Man Injured in Eastern Georgia

Officers of the Tetritskaro District Division of the Kvemo Kartli Police Department of Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs have detained a previously convicted man in the Tetritskaro Municipality on charges of intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm and illegally acquiring and carrying a firearm, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

"According to the investigation, the accused shot and wounded an acquaintance with an unregistered firearm during a conflict that arose from an argument.

The injured man was taken to a clinic for medical treatment.

As a result of investigative actions, police arrested the suspect in Tetritskaro Municipality. The weapon used in the crime was seized as evidence.

The investigation is being conducted under Articles 117 and 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provide for a prison sentence of up to seven years," the ministry said in a statement.
