Law enforcement in Georgia detained three people on drug-related charges
Officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs have detained three individuals on charges of illegal acquisition, possession, and facilitation of the sale of narcotic substances in especially large quantities, as well as the illegal planting and cultivation of plants containing drugs. The detainees are D.M., born in 1992, and Azerbaijani citizens R.G., born in 2001, and H.D., born in 1991. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
According to the agency, during searches of the personal belongings and residences of the detainees, law enforcement officers seized a particularly large quantity of various types of narcotic substances as evidence, including 75 packages of “methadone” prepared for sale, dried marijuana, and cannabis plants.
“Also seized were materials necessary for the cultivation and packaging of narcotic substances.
The investigation is being conducted under Articles 260, 260 quart, and 265 prima of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carry a penalty of up to 20 years or life imprisonment,” the statement said.
