In occupied Abkhazia, a Georgian citizen has been detained on suspicion of espionage
In occupied Abkhazia, Georgian citizen Emzar Bagishvili was detained on suspicion of espionage, according to Echo of the Caucasus.
Bagishvili was arrested in the village of Okumi, Tkvarcheli District. He is suspected of “obtaining and transmitting information for the Georgian intelligence services.” The case concerns the socio-political situation in Abkhazia, as well as the movement of military equipment and transport.
The de facto authorities in Sukhumi have not presented any evidence of Bagishvili’s espionage activities. He was born in 1968 and held a residence permit in occupied Abkhazia.
