Georgian Prosecutor’s Office charges foreign citizen with illegal purchase, possession, and facilitation of drug distribution
The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has charged a foreign citizen with the illegal purchase, possession, and facilitation of the distribution of especially large quantities of narcotic substances. This was reported by the Prosecutor’s Office.
“An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia established that the defendant illegally purchased and possessed especially large quantities of the narcotic substances ‘methadone’ and ‘cocaine’. As a result of investigative measures, law enforcement officers seized the narcotic substances. Items necessary for packaging drugs, as well as narcotic substances stored at various locations, were also seized from the defendant’s residence.
The detainee has been charged under Subparagraph ‘a’ of Part 3 of Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (illegal purchase and possession of especially large quantities of narcotic substances) and Subparagraph ‘a’ of Part 6 of Article 260 Prima (facilitation of the illegal sale of especially large quantities of narcotic substances), which carries a sentence of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
Based on the Prosecutor’s Office motion, the court ordered pre-trial detention as a preventive measure,” the Prosecutor’s Office said in its statement.
