Georgian police detain four individuals on drug-related charges

Officers of the Kakheti Police Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operational activities and investigative actions, detained four individuals: O.A., born in 2002, as well as three individuals born in 1998 — Romanian citizen A.N., Eritrean citizen F.M., and Jordanian citizen I.A. They are accused of illegal group acquisition and possession of a particularly large quantity of narcotic substances. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"During searches conducted in the Lagodekhi municipality — at the suspects’ residences and in the vehicle they were using — law enforcement officers seized marijuana in a particularly large quantity as material evidence," the ministry’s statement said.

The ministry noted that the investigation is being conducted under Article 273^1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.

The crime is punishable by up to 7 years of imprisonment.
