“GEL 50,000 Fine and Nine Months of Suspended Sentence” — Plea Agreement Reached with Businessman Tamaz Elizbarashvili

A plea agreement has been reached with businessman Tamaz Elizbarashvili, who is currently in custody.

Elizbarashvili voluntarily approached the Prosecutor’s Office and requested that a plea agreement be concluded.

According to his lawyer, Lexo Svimonishvili, Elizbarashvili admitted to the actions he had also acknowledged during the initial court hearing.

“Elizbarashvili admitted to the actions he had acknowledged at the initial court hearing: that he had indeed returned to the area adjacent to the restaurant and had indeed published a post and recorded a live video address the following day. We agreed on the terms and have already signed the relevant documents. If the court approves the plea agreement today, Tamaz Elizbarashvili will be released from custody. The terms are as follows: nine months of a suspended sentence, a one-year probation period, and a fine of GEL 50,000,” lawyer Lexo Svimonishvili said before the hearing began.
