Officers of the Kaspi District Division of the Shida Kartli Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions, detained a 73-year-old man, born in 1952, on charges of raping a minor, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.

According to the ministry, the crime is punishable by up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.

“As part of the ongoing investigation, it was established that the accused, using violence, raped a minor girl from the same village.

Law enforcement officers detained M.N. at his home in one of the villages of the Kaspi Municipality as a suspect.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 137 of the Criminal Code of Georgia,” — the statement reads.
