Police have arrested 6 individuals in Tbilisi on drug-related charges

Officers from the police departments of Tbilisi — Gldani-Nadzaladevi, Vake-Saburtalo, Old Tbilisi, and Isani-Samgori — as a result of operational activities and investigative actions, have arrested 6 people on charges related to drug offenses. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

"Based on the facts of illegal acquisition, storage, and distribution of narcotic substances in large and especially large quantities, as well as for preparation and attempted distribution of the narcotic substance 'marijuana', the following individuals were arrested: M.K., born in 1996; foreign nationals: K.R., born in 2007, and M.B., born in 1990; previously convicted individuals: Z.A., born in 1984, L.N., born in 1995, and G.K., born in 1994.

The crimes carry penalties of imprisonment for up to 20 years or life imprisonment.

On the basis of a court order, the police repeatedly conducted controlled purchases of narcotics from the suspects and recorded these purchases through covert audio and video surveillance.

During searches of the personal belongings and residences of the detainees, as well as at locations they indicated, narcotic substances were seized as evidence: heroin, methadone, mephedrone, buprenorphine, alpha-PVP, and marijuana. Also seized were narcotics that were illegally sold.

During a search of the residence of one of the accused, G.K., money allegedly obtained from drug sales was seized: 15,515 euros, 15,500 US dollars, and 6,550 lari.

The investigation is ongoing under Articles 260, 19-260, 18-260, 273 prima, 19-273 prima of the Criminal Code of Georgia," the statement says.
