Georgia’s Position in the Index of Economic Freedom Improves — The Heritage Foundation
Georgia’s score in the 2026 Index of Economic Freedom, published by The Heritage Foundation, has improved. The country received 69.6 points, which is 0.6 points higher than last year. Georgia ranks 35th in the global ranking.
In the report, countries’ economic environments are evaluated based on key criteria such as protection of property rights, tax burden, business freedom, and bureaucratic efficiency.
According to the ranking, Georgia holds 20th place among 44 countries in Europe. The country’s economic freedom score exceeds both global and regional averages. According to the index, Georgia’s economy is classified as “moderately free.”
“Despite external and political challenges, Georgia’s economy shows good results in key areas of economic policy. The government has implemented reforms to improve regulatory efficiency and maintains an open market policy and low tax rates. The economy has also demonstrated a moderate level of resilience,” the report states.
