A Large-Scale Presentation of Georgian Wine Took Place in Germany

With financial and organizational support from the National Wine Agency, 26 Georgian wine-producing companies participated in one of the world’s largest wine and alcoholic beverage exhibitions, ProWein Düsseldorf, held in the German city of Düsseldorf.

During the three-day exhibition, organized by the marketing company ff.k Public Relations, a contractor of the National Wine Agency, professional presentations and tastings of Georgian wine were held. These were led by wine expert Inge Mainzer, wine writer and expert Robert Joseph, as well as wine masters Konstantin Baum and Janek Schumann. Special emphasis during the tastings was placed on wines produced in qvevri. Alongside Georgian wine, the exhibition also featured Georgian cuisine and gastronomy.

“Georgia’s presentation at ProWein Düsseldorf is important for increasing the recognition of Georgian wine and diversifying export markets. The National Wine Agency continues to support wine-producing companies in participating in international exhibitions, giving entrepreneurs the opportunity to find new importers and meet potential partners.

During the exhibition, numerous seminars and tastings were held, clearly showing that interest in Georgian wine from both professionals and consumers is very high,” noted Tamta Kvelaidze, Deputy Chairperson of the National Wine Agency.

The exhibition was attended by the Georgian consul in Frankfurt am Main, Rusudan Vardoshvili. Georgian winemakers also received support from the Embassy of Georgia in the Federal Republic of Germany for presenting their wines at ProWein Düsseldorf.

Georgia participated in ProWein Düsseldorf for the 26th time. Over the three days, wine professionals, commercial sector representatives, and tens of thousands of visitors had the opportunity to evaluate Georgian wine, which is especially significant for boosting sales.

This year, the exhibition featured nearly 2,400 wine companies from 50 countries around the world.

Germany is the largest importer and consumer of wine in Europe. Thanks to the activities supported by the National Wine Agency of Georgia and consistent cooperation with Georgian wine producers, there is a steady growth trend in Georgian wine exports.
