Trump: Time Has Come for an Agreement Between Iran and Israel

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed hope that Iran and Israel would be able to reach an agreement and end the hostilities. "I hope an agreement will be reached. I think the time has come for an agreement, and we’ll see what happens. Sometimes you have to fight first, but we’ll see what happens," he said while speaking to journalists on Sunday, June 15, before departing for the G7 summit in Canada, according to Reuters.

The head of the White House stated that the United States intends to continue supporting Israel’s defense. However, the American leader did not say whether he had asked Israel to suspend its strikes on Iran.

Iran and Israel should reach a ceasefire agreement following the example of India and Pakistan, Trump wrote the same day on the social network Truth Social. In the post, the President said that during his first term, he prevented the conflict between Serbia and Kosovo from escalating into war. Trump also credited himself with maintaining peace between Egypt and Ethiopia.

"In the same way, we will soon achieve peace between Israel and Iran! There are many phone calls and meetings going on right now. I’m doing a lot, but I never get recognition for it — but that’s okay, people understand," he wrote. At the end of his post, the U.S. President called for bringing greatness back to the Middle East.
