Russia Reports Ukrainian Drone Attack on 7 Regions

Russia has reported another large-scale attack by Ukrainian drones. A total of 32 strike drones were shot down overnight, the Russian Ministry of Defense wrote on Telegram on Wednesday, January 8.

According to the statement, 11 drones were shot down over the Saratov region, four over the Kursk and Rostov regions each, three over the Belgorod and Bryansk regions each, two over the Krasnodar region, one over the Volgograd region, and four over the Sea of Azov.

Meanwhile, the acting governor of the Rostov region, Yuri Slyusar, stated that his region was attacked by five drones. They were shot down in the Millerovo, Chertkovo, and Azov districts. He claimed there were no casualties, injuries, or damage on the ground.

In turn, the governor of the Saratov region, Roman Busargin, reported a massive attack on Saratov and Engels. According to him, fragments from the downed drones caused damage to an unspecified "industrial facility." However, no people were injured, he noted.

Busargin also mentioned that an operational headquarters had been set up at the attacked facility. "We discussed the situation and the elimination plan with specialists on site. There are sufficient resources to localize the fire. Specialists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), the regional rescue service, and other relevant services are working at the facility," he wrote. Meanwhile, Telegram channels, citing local residents, reported explosions near an oil depot in Engels.
