The National Environmental Agency of Georgia warns the population about possible worsening weather conditions

The National Environmental Agency has issued a warning regarding expected adverse weather conditions in Georgia over the coming days, from January 18 to 20.

According to the agency, precipitation is expected, with snow in the mountains, some of it heavy, blizzards in high-altitude areas, and strong westerly winds. Additionally, on January 19-20, a 4-6 point storm is forecasted at sea.

"Expected precipitation may lead to a significant rise in water levels in the rivers of Western Georgia, the formation and activation of landslides and mudflows in hilly and mountainous areas, and the formation of avalanches in the country's high-altitude regions.

In certain sections of roads, heavy snowfall, avalanche risk, icy conditions, and reduced visibility may restrict transportation (hazard level – moderate)," the statement reads.
