The Georgian junior sambo team finished the European Sambo Championships with 20 medals

The Georgian junior sambo team concluded their performance at the European Sambo Championships, winning 20 medals. This was reported by the Georgian Ministry of Sport.

The European Sambo Championships for athletes under 18 and under 23 were held in Serbia, where Georgian athletes performed successfully.

At the championship, the Georgian junior sambo team won 20 medals: 3 gold, 5 silver, and 12 bronze. With this result, the team placed third in the overall standings.

Among athletes under 18, Giorgi Kashibadze (+98 kg) and Temo Gogrichiani (-53 kg) became European champions. Silver medals were won by Giorgi Mebagishvili (-58 kg), Ana Gagoshidze (-80 kg), and Mariam Mtskherashvili (+80 kg). Bronze medals went to Salome Alania (-47 kg), Sofio Giunashvili (-50 kg), Anano Kintsurashvili (-59 kg), Vladimir Machuridze (-79 kg), and Nikoloz Dgebuadze (-98 kg).

Among athletes under 21, Mariam Sichinava (-59 kg) became European champion. Silver medals were won by Iakob Gasitashvili (-64 kg) and Mariam Gabitashvili (+80 kg), while bronze medals went to Tamar Sukhiashvili (-50 kg), Gegi Tsverava (+98 kg), and Beka Turmanidze (-79 kg).

As part of the championship, Georgian sambo athletes participated for the first time in history in combat sambo among under-21 competitors, where four bronze medals were won by Mirza Tsikhelashvili (-58 kg), Vito Jajandize (-64 kg), Vakhtang Shugladze (-79 kg), and Luka Nikabadze (-98 kg).
