Measures to Combat Locusts Underway in Eastern Georgia
The National Food Agency continues its nationwide efforts to combat agricultural pests and diseases.
In order to minimize damage to the population, measures are being carried out in eastern Georgia to combat a dangerous pest — the Italian locust.
At this stage, an area of up to 27,000 hectares has been treated.
Specialized equipment has been mobilized, and the affected areas are being treated using mechanized equipment.
Plant protection specialists from the National Food Agency identify the areas where the pest is spreading based on monitoring results, after which chemical treatment measures are planned.
