The Parliament of Georgia approved amendments to the law “On Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances, Precursors and Narcological Assistance”

The Parliament of Georgia, in its third reading, reviewed and unanimously approved amendments to the law of Georgia “On Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances, Precursors and Narcological Assistance.”

The issue was presented for consideration by Deputy Minister for Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs, Irina Tsakadze.

According to the lists attached to UN conventions, the list of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and precursors is being expanded with new substances.

The convention lists include substances subject to international control that are not used for medical or pharmaceutical purposes.

In the relevant lists of the law of Georgia “On Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances, Precursors and Narcological Assistance,” 15 new substances included in the UN lists are added to the category of “narcotic drugs with strictly limited circulation,” while one substance is added to the list of “psychotropic substances.”

In addition, the draft law adds 18 new substances to the table of precursor lists.
