Two Individuals Detained in Georgia on Drug-Related Charges

Officers of the Main Directorate for Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking of the Central Criminal Police Department of Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs detained a previously convicted individual, G.B., born in 1968, as well as a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, A.Kh., born in 1976, as a result of operative and investigative actions. They are accused of repeated illegal acquisition and possession of narcotic substances in large and especially large quantities, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia reports.

“As a result of searches conducted on the detainees and in their residences, narcotic substances — methadone, Subutex, and heroin — were seized. Electronic scales were also confiscated as material evidence.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The crime is punishable by up to 20 years of imprisonment or life in prison,” the statement reads.
