Officers of the Vake-Saburtalo Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs detained a previously multiple-times convicted individual in hot pursuit on charges of robbery.

The investigation established that the accused broke into a branch of one of the chain retail stores in Tbilisi, threatened the cashier with a bladed weapon, and forcibly stole money from the cash register before fleeing the scene.

As a result of investigative actions carried out in the case, law enforcement officers detained the suspect shortly after the crime.

The investigation is being conducted under Part 4 of Article 179 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for a prison sentence of up to 15 years.
